Rita Barnett-Rose
Rita has been practicing or teaching law and legal writing for over two decades, after receiving her JD from the University of Texas, graduating with honors, and her B.A. from Barnard College of Columbia University, graduating cum laude.
Prior to forming Barsotti Rose with Jessica, Rita maintained the dual role of Legal Director at Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s organization Children’s Health Defense, California Chapter, and as a partner at Facts Law Truth Justice, a law firm that represented CHD and other non-profits and individuals fighting the unlawful and unethical mandates in California during the Covid era. She resigned from her position as a Legal Writing & Analysis Professor at Chapman University’s School of Law after being put on unpaid leave due to her refusal to comply with its coercive COVID policies. She then became an outspoken legal advocate for bodily autonomy and the safeguarding of children’s health.
Prior to her teaching career, Rita was an associate at Latham & Watkins, practicing largely in the area of intellectual property. While at the University of Texas School of Law, Rita was an extern for Justice Greg Abbott of the Supreme Court of Texas – now Governor of Texas.
As a scholar and educator, Rita’s interests in bodily autonomy, clean food and water, and her concern over the overmedicating of our children led her to delve into the significant regulatory capture issues within agencies such as the CDC, FDA, and EPA. Her published law review articles focus on these vitally important issues.
Rita’s excellent legal writing and analysis skills have been demonstrated through her considerable experience over the last 4 years in California courts fighting for personal freedoms and parental rights. As a partner in the law firm Facts Law Truth Justice, she drafted many of the winning writs that brought favorable rulings in both Piedmont and Orange County that pushed back against harmful illegal policies during the COVID era. At BarsottiRose Consulting, Rita is now offering legal consulting and editing/drafting assistance with complaints, motions, appeal briefs and other litigation and transactional documents.
